General ZQuiet Mouthpiece Questions
Some people have no side effects at all when trying a ZQuiet Mouthpiece for the first time. Others may experience challenges, such as feeling pressure on the front teeth, an urge to cough, excessive saliva, or unconsciously removing the device while sleeping. These experiences diminish over time and with use. We recommend wearing your ZQuiet for short periods while you are awake to help get accustomed to the device. Remember, after a brief adjustment period, everyone can enjoy quiet, restful sleep!
Trina: If you're new to trying ZQuiet, what do you need to know? For some people the snoring stops overnight and it's really easy, and for others an adjustment period is needed and that's completely normal. Sometimes it takes a couple days and for some people it can even take a couple of weeks. The most important thing to know is that with time everything gets better, so we always recommend to start by wearing it for small periods of time make sure you start with size 1 and go for like 10 to 15 minutes at a time until it feels natural to have the mouthpiece in your mouth. Some drooling is natural, don't worry about it. It'll get better with time and use, and then once you've established that you can wear the mouthpiece, go ahead and try to wear it when you go to sleep. You may be able to sleep the whole night through with no issues, but don't be surprised if you find it on your pillow, it pops out at night sometimes. You may need to take it out during the night and you might even want to take a night or two off if you're feeling some jaw soreness which is completely normal. When you think about it you're moving your lower jaw forward and that's training new muscles - it's like a new exercise. So some jaw or tooth soreness is completely normal. All of these things subside with time and use, so take it easy, stay positive, and with time you're going to have a great night's sleep with ZQuiet, and if you need any help we're always here, just reach out.
When you purchase a Comfort Mouthpiece, such as our 2-Size Starter Pack, setup is not required. You can remove it from the case and use it right away. Start with the Comfort 1 device. If your snoring persists, use the Comfort 2 device to widen the airway slightly more.
When you purchase a ZQuiet Advance Mouthpiece, you must mold the device to your teeth. This takes a few minutes upfront, but many believe it's worth it for the customized fit. If you are uncertain about which strap size to use, we recommend starting with Size 1 Strap and then incrementally increasing the strap size to determine the best jaw advancement setting.
You should expect to see results the very first night you use it. As soon as the mouthpiece is in place, it advances your jaw, opening the airway and reducing or stopping the snoring noise.
Optimal results occur when you determine which jaw advancement is best for you. With the Comfort devices, you will need to determine if Size 1 is enough advancement or if you need to move to Size 2 to silence the snoring. If you use the ZQuiet Advance, you may need to change the strap sizes to find the optimal jaw advancement setting.
It depends on the individual, but many customers find that their ZQuiet Mouthpiece lasts for many months of nightly use. Just like a toothbrush, we recommend replacing ZQuiet at least every 6 months. Users that clench or grind at night may find they need replacements closer to 3 months or may want to try the ZQuiet Firm Mouthpiece that is made with a stronger hinge. We offer repeat customers a variety of subscription options with deep discounts to make sure that you always have replacement ZQuiet products when you need them and at the best price.
Trina: So what's the best way to care for your ZQuiet? First of all it's important to clean it after every use and we recommend using ZQuiet clean, but you can also just use a toothbrush and some mild soap. You want to make sure you don't use any cleaner with harsh chemicals like bleach or alcohol or ammonia. And once it's clean be sure to store it flat in the storage case because this maintains the hinge strength and it'll last longer that way. So how long should your ZQuiet last? We like to think of it like a toothbrush: over time and with use it does need replacement. Most people with nightly use replace it about every four months. If you use it a little less often maybe every six months, and then some people who have particularly strong Jaws or who clench and grind their teeth at night wear through that hinge a little more quickly and need more frequent replacement. We carry each size on our website and it's really easy to reorder in just the size that you need.
Both the Comfort and Advance mouthpieces share many similar traits. They are both FDA Cleared, safe, and effective, made with medical grade materials, are thin and low-profile, and have a hinged design that allows natural jaw movement. The differences are that the Advance is moldable and has 4 levels of jaw advancement adjustment and works with straight or crooked teeth, whereas the Comfort mouthpiece is ready-to-use out of the box and comes in 2 jaw advancement sizes and works best with straight front teeth or over Invisalign or other clear aligner treatments.
Most customers find that ZQuiet lasts between 2 and 12 months, depending on various factors. We recommend replacing your ZQuiet mouthpiece every 4-6 months for optimal results and hygiene, just as you would a toothbrush.
If you find that your ZQuiet Comfort Device needs to be replaced more frequently than every 3-4 months, consider the ZQuiet Firm Device, which features a stronger hinge designed for individuals who clench or grind their teeth at night, thereby wearing down the device more quickly.
For repeat customers, we offer a variety of subscription options to make sure you always have a fresh ZQuiet available.
Some jaw soreness is normal when adjusting to the sensation of moving your lower jaw forward for extended periods. This is true for all anti-snoring mouthpieces, including those custom-made by dentists. We recommend wearing the mouthpiece for short periods while awake until you feel comfortable sleeping with it.
It’s a good idea to review the instruction manual that came with your ZQuiet Mouthpiece and our Product Support Page for some great tips and suggestions. You may also want to try a chin strap or mouth tape with the mouthpiece to help stabilize your lower jaw if you are prone to open-mouth breathing.
Give it some time if you are new to wearing a ZQuiet Mouthpiece. It’s a normal response to eject the mouthpiece while sleeping, and this should subside with time and use. If this persists, some users find that using mouth tape or a chin strap helps to keep the mouthpiece in place and adds an additional layer of snoring protection.
The Original ZQuiet Mouthpiece was specially designed to fit nearly everyone. No boiling or molding is required - Just use it exactly as provided. You can trim your ZQuiet with small scissors to improve fit and comfort if needed. After trimming, use a fingernail file or emery board to smooth any rough edges and avoid irritation to the gums.
The ZQuiet Advance Mouthpiece is moldable and has four settings for Advancement. Instructions for molding it can be found here: https://zquiet.com/pages/success-advance
Drooling is common for many customers and usually disappears with continued use. The body’s natural response to having a device in your mouth is to salivate. Most customers find that the drooling stops within 2 days to 2 weeks, and you will achieve maximum comfort with your ZQuiet Mouthpiece.
It helps to wear your ZQuiet mouthpiece for short periods during the day to adjust to the sensation and reduce drooling before trying to go to sleep wearing it.
Any anti-snoring mouthpiece design can cause tooth pressure and discomfort. However, if you experience lasting pain, discontinue use immediately and contact us to request a refund.
Comfort & Firm Mouthpieces:
The hinge design of the ZQuiet Comfort and Firm mouthpieces can add extra pressure to the front teeth, which may be bothersome to some people. If you have tooth sensitivity or discomfort, consider purchasing a ZQuiet Advance. The Advance's design provides a custom fit and eliminates pressure on the front teeth. If it has been less than 60 days since your purchase, you can upgrade to the Advance with a credit from your original purchase.
Advance Mouthpieces
If you are experiencing discomfort or pressure while using the ZQuiet Advance, try remolding it for a better fit. Instructions and product support can be found here.
Mouthpieces that move the lower jaw forward to treat snoring have been widely used for decades, and clinical tests have shown a success rate of over 90% in reducing snoring. Some people find that there is an adjustment period when first wearing an oral appliance, and this is true for both custom dentist-fitted devices and over-the-counter products like ZQuiet.
ZQuiet Mouthpieces are FDA-regulated medical devices that require extensive & rigorous procedures that add to our cost but ensure safety and efficacy for the user. They are manufactured in an inspected and controlled environment with materials that are safe for use. Beware of cheap imitation devices that may claim to be FDA-approved but, in reality, have not been proven safe to use.
The ZQuiet Comfort device is made of a soft thermoplastic compound that has undergone stringent consumer testing, including toxicology, sensitivity, and biocompatibility assessments. It does not contain silicone, latex, or Bisphenol A (BPA). The material is made in the USA, and is specially formulated for medical applications that require FDA compliance.
The ZQuiet Advance mouthpiece is made of three different types of FDA-approved, medical-grade plastics, which are specially formulated for medical devices and have passed stringent biocompatibility testing to ensure safety for intraoral use. The materials do not contain silicone, latex, or Bisphenol (BPA).
ZQuiet Comfort Devices are universally sized and made of thin, soft material with no boiling or molding required. There are two different sizes to choose from. Size 1 pulls the lower jaw slightly forward and is the perfect way to adjust to the sensation of an anti-snoring mouthpiece. Size two pulls the lower jaw even farther forward for those who need more jaw advancement to stop the snoring completely.
The ZQuiet Advance custom-molded mouthpiece is recognized as the slimmest and most comfortable "boil and mold" device on the market. It comes with instructions for an easy molding process and can be adjusted in four different jaw positions after molding.
ZQuiet has been committed to manufacturing in the USA since the first Comfort mouthpieces rolled off the line in 2009, and they continue to be made here today. When we introduced the Advance mouthpiece in 2025, we made a difficult decision to make the manufacturing tool in China because US costs were more than 15 times higher. Now that the Advance has been market-tested with great success, we plan to relocate the manufacturing process to our US facility as soon as possible. Our customer service team is also proudly US-based because we believe in creating and supporting jobs here.
The ZQuiet Mouthpiece is FDA-cleared to treat snoring. All oral anti-snoring devices are considered Class II medical devices, regulated by the FDA, and must meet their specific requirements. Technically, if a device like ZQuiet is similar to a device that has already been cleared for the same use, the FDA does not “approve” a new device in the same category; they “clear” them for sale under the 510(k) Clearance process. To receive FDA Clearance, a product must be proven effective and undergo rigorous consumer safety testing. There are many illegal anti-snoring devices sold online that have not been cleared by the FDA, making it impossible to ensure that these products are effective and safe for consumers.
Absolutely! It is not only effective at eliminating snoring, it also protects your teeth against damage from nighttime clenching and grinding.
Advance Mouthpiece
Refer to the instruction booklet which has illustrations identifying the Upper and Lower Trays or our instructional video. Both the Upper and Lower trays also have identification marks. Before molding the “UPPER” and “LOWER” markings should be visible in the impression material that you will be biting into. There are also identification marks engraved in the hard surfaces of the underside of each of the trays.
If you didn’t get a deep impression or the fit doesn’t feel correct after molding the device the first time, reheat the device in simmering water for 90 seconds. Remove the mouthpiece with tongs, shake off excess water, and wait 15 seconds to cool. Making sure you have the upper and lower trays in the correct position, reinsert the mouthpiece in front of a mirror to ensure it is seated properly in your mouth before fully biting down. While the material is still soft you can use your fingers to make small adjustments to the device positioning. The device can be remolded a couple of times if necessary.
During the molding process, some of the impression material is displaced and may feel like an annoyance. Reheat the device in the simmering water for 90 seconds. Remove the mouthpiece with tongs, shake off excess water, and wait 15 seconds to cool. Re-insert the device and smooth any lumps or bulges with your finger.
The ZQuiet Advance mouthpiece comes pre-assembled with the smallest Size 1 straps, which is recommended initially for adjusting to the device and may be all that is needed to keep your airway open. If snoring persists, you should consult the instructions, which contain a general guideline for the recommended strap size based on your type of bite and snoring severity. Be sure to retain all the extra straps in case they are needed for future adjustment. Adjusting the device is detailed in this section of the instructional video (WATCH VIDEO)
Once you have determined the correct strap size to use, you should remove and replace each strap on one side at a time. To remove the strap, you must position the strap so that the strap slots align with the post keys before it can be removed. Once both ends of the strap are removed, attach the new strap by aligning the strap hole and slots over the post key one end at a time. This process should be repeated for replacing the strap on the opposite side. Please see the instructions for illustrations and guidance or in this section of the instructional video (WATCH VIDEO)
Yes! Please contact [email protected] for assistance in ordering replacement straps.
ZQuiet Advance comes pre-assembled and takes less than 5 minutes to mold to your teeth. The mouthpiece comes with detailed instructions and the process is easy as detailed in this section of the instructional video (WATCH VIDEO).
Comfort & Firm Mouthpieces
Modifying your device does not void the Better Sleep Guarantee. Some people like to make small modifications to their ZQuiet in places where it might irritate their gums or teeth. Feel free to follow the recommendations in the instruction manual for a more custom fit.
The Comfort Mouthpieces are made with a softer more flexible material and the ZQuiet Firm Mouthpieces are designed with a stiffer grade material and an extra-strong hinge. We recommend the Firm mouthpiece for people who clench or grind their teeth or who find their ZQuiet lasts under 2-3 months.
ZQuiet was designed with efficiency and comfort in mind. No impressions or molding are required because the low profile, open channel design and soft material allow the device to conform to any mouth and the patented living hinge holds it securely in place.
ZQuiet Mouthpieces utilize the same technology employed by custom anti-snoring devices fitted by dentists that cost thousands of dollars. The mouthpiece moves the lower jaw forward, which opens the airway and reduces the vibration that causes snoring. Unlike some anti-snoring devices, ZQuiet allows you to breathe naturally through both your mouth and nose. Opening and closing your mouth while sleeping is a natural process, and ZQuiet’s hinged design provides jaw mobility no matter what sleep position you are in. Many customers appreciate that they can even talk or take a drink without removing the mouthpiece.
Mouthpiece Care & Maintenance
The golden rule is that your ZQuiet Advance Mouthpiece should be stored in the supplied case after cleaning, preventing loss or accidental damage. Comfort devices will last longer when stored in their case because it restores the hinge strength when not in use.
Warning: pets love ZQuiet! It's a perfect chew toy that tastes like their favorite human. If you have a pet at home, ensuring ZQuiet stays in its case is critical. 🐶
You can purchase a storage case for the ZQuiet Comfort or Firm mouthpiece on our website.
Most customers find that ZQuiet lasts for a few months to a year, depending on several factors. We recommend replacing your ZQuiet every 4-6 months like a toothbrush. For repeat customers, we offer a variety of subscription options to make sure you always have a fresh ZQuiet available. If you find that your ZQuiet needs to be replaced more often than 4-6 months, you might want to consider a ZQuiet Firm Device, which has a stronger hinge for people that clench or grind at night, which wears down the device faster.
Clean it after every use with our carefully formulated, proprietary cleaning solution, ZQuiet Clean. Cleaning and sanitizing your ZQuiet is as easy as “pump, scrub, and rinse” and takes only a few seconds! Important: Do not use mouthwash with alcohol, harsh chemicals, or household cleaning products like bleach or ammonia to clean any ZQuiet product, as it may damage the material.
ZQuiet Earplugs
A great fit is paramount for both comfort and optimal performance. One size does not fit all which is why each set of ZQuiet Earplugs includes 2 sizes. It should fit comfortably with an airtight acoustic seal. If the earplug feels too big (creates pressure or is very difficult to insert) it probably means you have ear canals on the smaller side and should use the smaller size eartips that are included. Be sure to follow the instructions or watch the video on how to change the filters. (watch video)
Wash your hands and make sure your ear canals are clean and free of wax. Grasping the wide end of the earplug, place the tip over the ear canal and gently push into the ear with a twisting motion until the ear is sealed.
Wash your hands. Grasp the pull tab and remove using a slow twisting motion. Repeat for the other ear. Be sure to clean earplugs after each use and store them in the provided case.
The set includes 2 sizes of eartips & 1 set of interchangeable filters. The filters are easily removed and reinserted into both eartip sizes. To remove the filter, peel back silicone around the filter top and push out from the tip side. Take the alternate size eartip and pry filter into the circular filter cavity by inserting the pointed end first. Fold silicone rim back over the circular edge of the filter to secure.Watch the video on how to change the filters.
Cleaning the earplugs is easy. Use a brush to remove any dirt or wax from the tip. Clean eartip with a soft damp cloth. Important: Do not soak or submerge the noise reduction filters, as they are not waterproof. Remove filters prior to deep cleaning eartips with mild soap and water. Do not use any cleaning solvents or chemicals.
Your ZQuiet earplugs are reusable but with extended use, the eartips can weaken and could break. Be sure to replace at least every 3 months or if excessive wear is evident.
ZQuiet Earplugs do not require any batteries as they use passive technology (meaning no electronic components). You just insert them into your ears and the sound reduction is immediate!
The differences between the Flex-Fit and Ergo-Soft earplugs comes down to 3 primary features; material, shape, and sizing. The Flex-Fit earplugs are made from hypo-allergenic silicone, have a straight cone shape, and come in 2 eartip sizes; whereas the Ergo-Soft are made of a soft rubber compound, have an angled cone shape, and come only in size Small.
ZQuiet Clean
ZQuiet Clean was designed by a team of dental hygienists to provide a safe, non-peroxide, chlorine-free cleaning solution and is made with natural peppermint and eucalyptus ingredients.
With daily cleanings, the 1.5oz bottle should last 30-45 days.
The ZQuiet Clean bottle is TSA compliant and can be carried on with your other approved carry-on liquids that fit in a Quart size bag, or packed in your checked baggage.
ZQuiet Breathe
With regular use, ZQuiet Breathe will remain effective for about 2 weeks.
Not at all. Most people find that using it facing up like a "W" is more comfortable, but others find that not to be true and prefer it facing down like an "M". The ZQuiet Breathe will still be just as effective whichever way you choose to use it.
Yes. You can fold the wings in slightly to mold the material to fit inside your nose better.
You should notice the increased airflow immediately.
To experience the benefits of increased oxygen intake and restful sleep, ZQuiet Breathe should be worn every night.
ZQuiet Breathe is made with a propylene based internal structure with a thermal polyethylene (TPE) covering. The product is latex and BPA-Free, and proudly made in the USA.
Nasal dilators are extremely helpful to increase airflow and oxygen intake while you sleep or exercise. Unlike nasal strips, a nasal dilator expands your nostrils from the inside which is the most effective way to open nasal passages. Nasal dilators are especially effective when you are experiencing allergies or congestion, or when snoring is present. (Watch Video)
Trina Webster: A lot of people call us at ZQuiet and say hey does a nasal dilator really work to treat snoring and the answer is yes. Unlike tape that goes over your nose a nasal dilator is a product that goes just inside your nostrils and props open your airway. Anytime your airway is clear you have less snoring so it really effectively works for that nasal snoring and the other thing about a nasal dilator is no matter what you're just getting more oxygen. So let me ask you this, if you're going to go outside and exercise would you like all the oxygen or just enough to get by because, that's what a nasal dilator does for your brain all night long. It increases your air flow which makes your snoring go away and your sleep is more restful so you're waking up feeling so much better in the morning. I highly recommend a nasal dilator for sleeping, for the treatment of snoring, and actually even just for exercise. My husband uses his when he goes on long bike rides because he's just getting more air. It's an awesome product and well worth a try. I hope this is helpful.
Learn About Snoring
Mutiple studies across several decades have shown that anti snoring mouthpieces are at least 85% effective for people who use them. Mouthpieces are one of the best snoring solutions that actually work to treat the root cause of snoring. Beyond treating snoring, anti snoring mouthpieces are snoring devices that work by opening the airway allowing for greater oxygen intake which improves the health of the user and the quality of sleep for both the snorer and anyone sleeping near them.
The best snoring solutions are devices that address the root source of the snoring noise caused by the soft tissue in your throat collapsing and creating turbulence as you breathe. Oral appliances do this very effectively by moving the jaw forward to keep the airway open. There are other types of snoring aids which can be used in addition to a mouthpiece or as an alternative, such as snoring solutions that open the nasal passages to increase airflow and positional therapy.
An anti snoring nose clip stops snoring by opening the nasal passage to create more airflow. They work well for mild to moderate snoring and can reduce the sounds of loud snoring caused by mouth breathing. Devices such as ZQuiet Breathe can be used alone or with other treatments (such as an anti-snoring mouthpiece or positional therapy) to treat snoring.
The best snoring prevention devices all use the same technology of moving the lower jaw forward to open the airway, but they have different designs. ZQuiet is one of the best mouth guards for snoring because it features a thin and flexible design and doesn't require molding; whereas custom devices tend to be bulkier because of the material required for molding.
Sleep apnea is a more serious condition than simple snoring and should be managed by a qualified professional. Depending on the severity of the apnea, some doctors suggest a custom sleep apnea mouthpiece made by a dentist, while others suggest a simple fix for snoring and sleep apnea such as an over-the-counter device like ZQuiet.
The best way to block noise while you sleep is to wear earplugs that use passive noise reduction to cancel out unwanted sounds so you can sleep soundly. The best noise cancelling earplug for sleeping should be comfortable while sleeping on a pillow and reusable to last for many nights of use.
It's important to keep the nasal passages as open as possible during sleep to reduce snoring and congestion and maximize airflow for higher quality rest. Anti-snoring nasal strips, or nose strips such as BreatheRight, can partially open the airway, but a nasal dilator for snoring, such as ZQuiet Breathe , is more effective because it opens the airway by gently pushing from the inside of your nostril to increase airflow by 58%.
The classic "elbow nudge" to force a snoring bed partner on their side happens for a reason. It's because the best sleeping position to stop snoring is to sleep on your side, giving your airway the best chance of staying open. Snoring is loudest when sleeping on your back because the tongue falls back, causing the tissues in your throat collapse and amplify the snoring sound. Do pillows help with snoring? Yes, using a pillow or specialized positional therapy device can be helpful to ensure a snorer maintains the best position to open the airway and reduce snoring.
There are lots of products on the market to treat snoring, but the most effective products open the airway, such as a mouthpiece or nasal dilator. Once the snoring has been reduced, try the best sleeping positions to stop snoring, which is on either side -- not the back or stomach. Positional therapy devices such as a slumber belt or snoring pillow keep the snorer sleeping on their side. The combination of a mouthpiece and a nasal dilator is the most effective treatment. If you are seeking solutions for sleeping with a snorer, you have come to the right place! ZQuiet was created when Dan and Trina, our co-founders, were trying to solve Dan's snoring problem.
The most effective device to stop snoring is a mouthpiece that pulls the lower jaw forward. Also known as mandibular advancement devices, mouthpieces have been studied for decades and have been proven effective because they open the aiway, which stops the vibration in the throat that causes the snoring sound. Mouthpieces also increase the amount of oxygen intake, resulting in more healthy, restful sleep. These products can be purchased online by a reputable FDA-cleared manufacturer or custom-made by a dental specialist.
Snoring is caused by the soft tissue in your throat collapsing and creating turbulence as you breathe at night, so the best snoring prevention devices are ones that open the airway by gently moving your jaw forward. There are other types of snoring aids which can be used in addition to a mouthpiece or as an alternative, such as devices that open the nasal passages to increase airflow and positional therapy. Beyond treating snoring, anti-snoring mouthpieces also open the airway, allowing for greater oxygen intake which improves the health of the user and the quality of sleep for both the snorer and anyone sleeping near them.
The best way to block snoring noise is to use earbuds rather than to soundproof an entire room. Earbuds for sleeping should be designed to be comfortable while laying on a pillow and safe to use all night without Bluetooth connection. Look for earbuds that use passive noise canceling (simply having an earplug in your ear to quiet the noise). That can be combined with noise-masking devices (such as a sound machine that plays white noise or relaxing sounds) to soothe the brain and further mask any remaining noise.
Since sleep apnea is a more serious condition than simple snoring, your doctor, dentist, or ENT specialist might recommend a custom anti snoring dental appliance. You should discuss whether a dental mouthpiece to stop snoring is a good solution if you are unable to tolerate the use of a CPAP machine. Insurance sometimes covers the cost of a custom sleep apnea mouthpiece, but some professionals might recommend trying a more affordable over the counter mouthpiece, such as ZQuiet. Always discuss your condition and the best solution for you with a qualified specialist if you have sleep apnea and want to stop snoring.
Mouth snoring occurs when the tongue falls back and the airway collapses, causing turbulent air and the soft tissue to vibrate in the back of the throat. The best snoring remedy for mouth breathers is a stop snoring mouthpiece like ZQuiet that opens the airway by moving the lower jaw forward slightly to prevent the snoring noise. If the snorer is prone to open mouth breathing, combining the oral mouthpiece with a chin strap can help to promote healthy nasal breathing.
While there is technically no cure for snoring, there are ways to stop snoring permanently. Worn every night, a stop snoring mouthpiece like ZQuiet is one of the best snoring solutions that actually works because it opens the airway, which treats the root cause of the snoring noise caused by the soft tissue in your throat collapsing and creating turbulence as you breathe.
It's hard to know how loudly you snore because you're usually asleep, but others who are disrupted by your snoring might be more than willing to let you know! Snoring is caused when the tissues in the back of the throat relax during sleep and the vibration of the air coming through makes a snoring sound. The best way to determine how loudly you snore is to measure it with a snoring app such as SnoreLab (free to download), then to try a snoring solution and measure again to determine how effective the solution is. You can also find earplugs for your bed partner to help them get the best sleep while you find the solution that's best for you.
It makes sense to start snoring treatment naturally before resulting to more invasive procedures such as throat or nasal surgery. People now realize that there are logical and minimally invasive natural treatments to open your airway and reduce the snoring sound. The most effective way to stop snoring is by wearing an anti-snoring mouthpiece, such as ZQuiet. For those who can't tolerate a mouthpiece, opening the nasal passages with a nasal dilator has been shown to be very effective, as well as using a pillow or prop (called a positional therapy belt) to ensure the snorer sleeps on their side rather than on their back where snoring is the loudest.
The best way to block out your partner's snoring is to get them to treat it with a snoring solution like ZQuiet, but if that isn't possible, there are a few options to help block out the snoring noise. One solution is to wear earplugs or earbuds. The earplugs should be low profile and comfortable for sleeping otherwise you won't sleep well. There are 2 types of earplugs, passive noise reduction and active noise cancellation. Another option is noise masking which is using another sound source to drown out the unwanted noise, usually with white noise or soothing nature sounds. To learn more about these options, watch the video.
Trina: At ZQuiet we get a lot of phone calls from people who are really irritated and can't sleep at night due to noise. Most often it's snoring noise, but sometimes it's other noise. And no matter what is keeping you awake the very best thing to do is to find a way to block the sound from coming into your ears and there are really three basic approaches to that. The first is called passive noise cancelling which is really just a fancy word for wearing some ear plugs, and whether they're foam earplugs from the hardware store or a higher end earplug. What they do is create a barrier between that sound and your ear. The most important thing for passive ear plugs is that you have a really good seal and that is how you're gonna know that you found the right pair. The other thing that you can do is called noise masking which some of us know of as a sound machine or something on your phone that creates a sound and really what noise masking is creating a different sound for your brain to focus on instead of the snoring or the sirens or whatever it else there is. It's kind of tricking your brain and for some people it works really well and for some people it works really well and for others it can be an irritant but it's worth a try. And lastly there is something called active noise cancelling ear plugs or earbuds and those are a higher technology tend to be a little more expensive but what they do is they work at certain frequencies to cut out sound. There are ear plugs that are designed to specifically cancel out the sound of snoring and they can go a long way towards a quieter night. I will say though that if snoring is your problem the very best thing to do is to get your snorer to treat it because it's better for their health and it really is the only way for silent sleep. The three ways that you can block sound that I mentioned though are a really close second so, I hope this was helpful and good luck getting a good night's sleep.
Snoring can certainly be bad for your health because it indicates that your airway is compromised and you may not be getting enough oxygen while you sleep. In the short term this causes daytime fatigue, irritability, and poor performance at work. Over the long term snoring has been linked to larger health problems, such as diabetes, cardiac issues, and stroke. There is also a direct connection between obesity and snoring. It is a good idea to treat snoring of any kind, and and there are many solutions available. Oral appliances, also known as anti snoring mouthpieces, are known to be the most effective solution because they open the airway to treat the root cause of snoring. If you experience serious snoring accompanied by pauses in your breathing it could be indicative of sleep apnea and you should discuss it with your doctor.
Your best chance at eliminating snoring is with an anti snoring mouthpiece, such as ZQuiet. The snoring noise is caused by the tissues in your throat collapsing and vibrating as you breathe. Some of the most effective anti snoring devices work by gently moving your lower jaw forward, opening your airway. By decreasing turbulent airflow, the snoring stops.
Yes! ZQuiet products are now available at Amazon.com. You can also buy ZQuiet products on the official ZQuiet website and from select physicians and dentists.
Caution: If a mouthpiece is listed on an online store but doesn't have its own website, exercise caution. Mouthpieces to treat snoring must be cleared by the FDA, and there are many listed on online marketplaces that have not been proven safe and effective.
